Greetings!
I founded OBSIDIAN FARE: Celebrating Black Cultural Dining because I am extremely passionate about Black culture, especially dining and culinary experiences.
Presently, I matriculate Harvard Extension School, earning my graduate certification in Digital Storytelling. While creating a magazine is part of my studies, this topic inspires me most because of my professional work as an archivist, artist, cultural commentator, educator and historian and past time as a foodie.
At OBSIDIAN FARE, I will highlight diverse culinary heritages of the Africa Diaspora; share on Black-owned eateries and other businesses involved with dining; discuss various cultural-specific concepts from recipes and events to tablescapes and themed parties; honor persons of interest who are making positive impacts in the Black community; present cookbooks; and more.
With a mission to connect those interested in the myriad aspects of Black cultural dining experiences, I look forward to our journey together …
In AB-SOUL-UTE joy,
Karen
